Nativity by Jean-Baptiste Marie Pierre, 2nd half of 18th cen. [Public domain] via Wikimedia Commons.
An Advent Calendar is technically supposed to end on December 24th, but I couldn’t resist posting one final image. It is, of course, the Nativity. This is probably the easiest subject in the world to find paintings of, but I really struggled to find just the right one to feature here. It is by French artist Jean-Baptiste Marie Pierre (1714-1789).

I hope all of you have enjoyed by 2015 Advent Calendar. If you missed any posts or want to look at them again, you will always be able to find all the links here. I already have plenty of artworks in mind to use next year. In the meantime, look for a new A Scholarly Skater regular feature to debut in January 2016. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
